Well people, I am sitting in the Philadelphia airport waiting for my flight to Amsterdam. this trip is so surreal and I truly cannot believe it is happening.

The first flight from Seattle to Philly went off without a hitch and I even had the privilege of hugging my dear friend goodbye as she is leaving for Iona, Scotland.

I read the first 111 pages of One Hundred Years of Solitude on the flight and I am in love… Gabriel García Márquez, you are a master of words and an artist of fantasy. Besides the pure beauty of this book, I am captured by the topic of solitude. This is something I have been longing for lately and what better time for some solitude than airports. There is nothing better than being alone in a crowd of people, I haven’t felt more myself in quite sometime.

I think I will be contemplating the meaning of journey because I know this is just a small part of mine.

Blessings on you all, in even the most mundane of travels.

rude boy?

This woman is seriously awesome. She is funny but she also has some very true and interesting things to say about women in the music world. Why is it that even female artists seem to portray such negative and dangerous images of women? Hmmm, lets think about this together. Sometimes feminism can be found in the most unsuspected of places…

Thanks Glozell!

what are people that you should think about them,
mere mortals that you should care for them?
yet you made them only a little lower than God
and crowned them with glory and honor.
you gave them charge of everything you made
putting all things under their authority–

O Lord, our Lord, your majestic name fills the earth!

Wow, I was struck by the power of these words today. First of all, we were created to be just a little lower than God. Everything has been put under our authority and we have been crowned with glory and honor. Yikes, this could be so easy to mess up and I think that there are many ways in which we have messed up (the oil spill in the gulf, war in general, the extinction of entire species of animals, just to name a few…).

Your eye is a lamp that provides light for your body. When your eye is good, your whole body is filled with light. But when your eye is bad, your body is filled with darkness. Make sure that the light you think you have is not actually darkness. If you are fille with light, with no dark corners, then your whole life will be radiant, as though a flood light were filling you with light.

I think that Jesus’ words in Luke shed some light on this passage a little more. we should strive after light. We should be filled with light. Jesus even seems to suggest that this isn’t just something we should strive after but something that we should have, no excuses. This passage screams to me… If only you were filled with light, you could see what I see, you
could do what I do!

If only we had the eyes of Christ, we might see the world a little differently, who knows we may even act a little differently. At least I think that was the plan…

teach me your ways, o Lord,
that I may live according to your truth!
grant me purity of heart,
so that I may honor you.
